"This is it" -- Tyler Perry
Tyler Perry is a legend in filmmaking, no matter how you feel about him. He's always giving jobs to black actors on both TV and Film. His legacy will forever be set, especially because he owns a movie set in Atlanta. Part of his legacy is his career-defining role as our favorite grandmother "Madea". Whether it's been on stage or the screen, whenever Tyler was in heels, we knew what was about to go down: pure laughter and some lessons along the way.
This is what makes this recent news sad for me. In an interview, Perry said that the next entry in the franchise would be the last. He recalls in an interview on Sirus XM., "It's time for me to kill that old (expletive). I'm tired!" However, a final tour would be coming in 2019.
"I just don’t want to be her age, playing her."
I'm happy that Tyler's able to retire the character on his terms. We'll miss you Madea! Thanks for the memories!
A Madea Family Funeral is set to be released in theaters on March 1st, 2019.
