Academy Award nominated actor, Chiwetel Ejiofor, will be making his directorial debut in The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind next year and Netflix has just bought the rights to the film. According to Variety, Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave) wrote the screenplay and will also be starring in the film as the father of the main character.
"13-year-old boy William, played by newcomer Maxwell Simba, who finds a way to save his village in Malawi from famine."
The film is based on the bestselling book by William Kamkwamba and Bryan Mealer and was also the subject of a documentary that debuted at SXSW in 2013.
Chiwetel Ejiofor is one of the most underrated actors working today in Hollywood and by the sounds of this film, this will be special!
The film has already been shot and will be released in 2019.
