Shonda. Rhimes. The purveyor of excellence.
At this point in time Ms. Rhimes is not playin with her name, her worth or her coin. Respect all of the above.
In a speech she delivered at the 25th annual Women in Hollywood event on Tuesday she let the world know "I am the highest-paid show runner in television." Rhimes has the receipts to support her declaration.
Her production company Shondaland has moved over to Netflix after Rhimes signed a multi year deal with the huge media streaming company in 2017. There are reports that the Netflix deal banked her a base salary of a couple million.
Ms. Rhimes has not disclosed the particular amount of her deal. However she stated that “When I made a deal with Netflix, I let them interview my salary wrong in the press, and then I did as few interviews as possible and I put my head down and worked. In other words, I hid. I’m getting this award for inspiring other women; how can I inspire anyone if I’m hiding?” She also said “The other day I came to this conclusion that men brag and women hide,"
Rhimes makes it clear this year she isn't hiding at all.
