Lifetime has released a new trailer for a docuseries called Surviving R. Kelly. The network has made it a three night event which will air on Thursday, Jan 3 at 9pm ET/PT. Another two hours will air on Friday, Jan 4 at 9pm ET/PT and the last piece of the series will premiere on Saturday, Jan 5 also at 9pm ET/PT.
The docuseries will unpack R. Kelly's past, beginning in 1970 to the present and his relations with young Black girls. Untold stories and insights on Kelly's mental, physical and sexual treatment of girls/women will openly be discussed through a collection of 50+ interviews. A few public figures are featured in the interviews such as activist Tarana Burke, musicians John Legend, Sparkle, and talk-show host Wendy Williams. People that have a personal connection to R. Kelly are adding their voices to the story too, such as Kelly's ex-wife Andrea Kelly, ex-girlfriend Kitti Jones, and his brothers Carey and Bruce Kelly.
The Surviving R. Kelly Lifetime special is executive produced by filmmaker and activist Dream Hampton, Tamara Simmons (Executive Assistant at BOTA Entertainment) Joel Karsburg (founder of Kreativ Inc) and Jesse Daniels (Vice President of Kreativ Inc).
