I guess winning that spelling bee was the key! Former child star, Keke Palmer, is known for films such as: Akeelah and the Bee, Madea's Family Reunion, Jump In, Barbershop 2 and The Longshots. She was also the star of the "Nickelodeon" show True Jackson, VP;
we've seen her grow up right before our eyes.
Though transiting from child star to adult actor is never an easy feat, KeKe is going for it. She plays a pimp the new film which also co-stars rapper DMX. Keke gives us her adult side as we witness her cursing, playing with a gun and kissing a white girl! From winning the spelling bee at 13 to becoming a pimp by 25! Pimp hits theaters November 9th.
In all seriousness though, it was surprising to see Keke in this role because I'm used to seeing her in family-friendly movies. This is a step up and this film looks intriguing!
Pimp revolves around the character Wednesday (Palmer), who is in a relationship with a woman that she has grown up with and decided to be a pimp. She soon realizes that in order her and her girlfriend Nikki (Haley Ramm) to obtain a better life, she has to make far more money than she is currently making. With this in mind, Wednesday decides to steal a beautiful woman from a major pimp in the neighborhood, and winds up making more money than she anticipated. She gets caught up in the “pimp life,” and decides to pimp out Nikki; however, problems arise when Nikki fails to make as much money as the other woman.
