Jordan Peele, known for his 2017 socially conscious thriller 'Get Out,' is putting his foot into a few new media developments. Peele is apart of the reboot of The Twilight Zone for CBS All Access. His roles so far are executive producing, writing and narrating. The series is expected to be ready for a 2019 release.
Stunning Sanna Lathan is on board, her acting career spans over decades. It should be dope seeing her act in a genre she hasn't really touched before. Actors that are also casted for The Twilight Zone include Kumail Nanjiani, John Cho, Allison Tolman and Jacob Tremblay.
The reboot will be produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions and Simon Kinberg’s Genre Films. Along with Peele and Kinberg the executive producer team includes Win Rosenfeld, Audrey Chon, Carol Serling, Rick Berg and Greg Yaitanes.
Carol Serling is credited with creating the original Twilight Zone, which ran for 80 episodes from 1959 to 1964, and explored culture and human behavior of the times through socially conscious storytelling. There have been two prior revivals of the original series. The first reboot aired for 110 episodes on CBS in 1985, and a second version, with Forest Whitaker in Serling’s role, ran for 43 episodes on UPN in the early 2000s. Peele's style should be an interesting refashioning of the classic series.
